Trapping the air
At times the results of the two packaging options look similar, but in many ways, they differ. One way is the way the two machines trap air. A vacuum sealer usually operates by creating a vacuum around the product. This is done either by external suction or using a chamber vacuum packaging machine where the air is squeezed out until nothing is left inside the bag. This process will, in turn, prevent product spoilage, freezer burn, dehydration among other benefits. This form of packaging is also good for perishable products since atmospheric air containing oxygen is removed. Bacteria and other anaerobic micro-organisms will there be limited extensively.
On the other hand, shrink wrap packaging operates differently. Instead of removing the atmospheric air from the bag, the shrink packaging focuses on protecting the product from the dirt. It works by using a plastic film that is put on the top of the product before subjecting it to heat using a shrink wrap machine. The shrinking, in this case, will happen to conform to the shape of the product.
The two processes are significantly different. In this case the air will be trapped inside while in the other one air will be removed. This process is not good for perishable food. The bacteria that might have been trapped inside will still have a breeding ground. This machine is good for the goods that are not consumable and acts as a better alternative for the vacuum sealer.
When you look at the material, the type used in vacuum sealing is relatively less thickly compared to the one used in shrink wrapping. However, in both cases, the material for sealing is usually transparent in nature. In both cases they also give the necessary protection to the goods in transit.
